The next big NFT hubs are going to be next-genchains like Abstract, Berachain, and Monad.
And now, we don't have to wait much longer to start digging in here. Abstract's mainnet is arriving early next week!
For those still catching up, Abstract is an Ethereum L2 built on ZKsync's ZK Stack framework. It's generated a lot of excitement, as the network is being developed by the parent company of Pudgy Penguins, Igloo Inc.
The chain is centered around consumer crypto, like onchain games, onchain social apps, and beyond.
If you're looking to dive into the L2 on day one, you're in luck too. There's already a range of NFT and gaming projects that have set up shop here, as this new ecosystem map shows:
We can also assume that Abstract will be announcing its token details next week, if not opening claims for its token altogether.
Abstract originally evolved from Frame, an NFT-centric L2 that was planning an airdrop in 2024 that the vast majority of Ethereum NFT users were eligible for. If this eligibility carries over to Abstract, many people will be able to claim the token.
We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, get ready for all the festivities by following the Abstract Ecosystem account to watch for project announcements.
Personally, I plan on bridging in via Relay and then playing some Duper and surfing Magic Eden for new NFTs. There will be lots of other opportunities to choose from, though, so prep your wallet over the weekend ahead of the big rollout!
