A judge has denied the SEC’s effort to keep documents related to Bill Hinman’s now infamous speech about cryptocurrencies sealed. The 5-year-old speech by the former SEC director remains a key argument in Ripple’s ongoing legal battle with the regulator. That’s because he very explicitly said that “current offers and sales of Ether are not securities transactions,” which would go a long way in helping Ripple defend against the SEC’s claims that XRP is an unregistered security. Unsurprisingly, XRP saw a nice bump in price on the news. Your move, SEC.
