Biomes Is Readying for Autonomous Worlds Domination
Redstone, an Ethereum Layer 2 centered around autonomous worlds and onchain games, has experienced a recent activity surge, much of which can be explained by the rise of Biomes.
An autonomous world project, Biomes is a fully onchain virtual environment, and its alpha release kicked off in October 2024. The vision? Become the virtual world with the largest GDP, i.e. economic activity.
Built atop the MUD onchain app framework, Biomes is still early in its development, but it aims to achieve its ambitious economic goals through a trio of fundamental pillars: Digital Matter, Smart Items, and Infinite Expansion.
For today's post, let's dig into the basics of this vision to offer a wide open onchain alternative to Minecraft! 👇

Building on the success of their Liquid Staking Token, mETH, Mantle LSP announces plans for a new Liquid Restaking Token, cmETH, along with a governance token, COOK. With Methamorphosis, participants can now farm Powder for future COOK tokens and position themselves early for upcoming cmETH release.
Family is a wallet I've been watching since this summer when I came across their rather excellent design philosophy write-up.
It was a slick and compelling vision. So that's why this week I was excited to see Avara, the minds behind Aave, Lens, and Family, officially launch the wallet as a free iOS app.
A non-custodial Ethereum wallet, Family lets you onboard by just providing an email or phone number. Yet it's not only for beginners. The in-app browser and optimized collectibles support would feel nifty to any ETH veterans, too, in my opinion.
There are endless wallets to choose from these days, to be sure, but I think Family meets the bar for “worth a try.” If you're feeling adventurous, check it out!
