The price of Ethereum jumped by over 20% Friday morning to highs of over $2,400, as crypto markets rallied on news of a US-UK trade deal and Bitcoin topped $103,000.
Ethereum was further bolstered by the success of the Pectra upgrade earlier this week. Billed as the “most ambitious upgrade” the network has ever implemented, Pectra includes a number of improvements designed to enhance Ethereum’s scalability, efficiency, and usability.
The bill’s defeat casts a pall of uncertainty over U.S. oversight of stablecoins, throwing a spanner in the works of the Trump administration’s effort to pass digital asset legislation ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
