The unsealing of the so-called Hinman documents has XRP holders feeling especially bullish today. Named after the former SEC director William Hinman, the documents refer to a speech he made in 2018 in which he argued that neither Bitcoin nor Ethereum should be regulated as securities. Importantly, especially for XRP fans, Ripple is using these documents to argue that XRP also shouldn’t be considered a security in its court battle against the SEC. The court previously blocked the Commission’s motion to try and keep those documents under wraps as well as quietly scrubbing Hinman’s bio from the SEC’s website.
